Kellogg Alumni Rising Entrepreneur of the Year
Ken Williams is the CEO and owner of The Shred Authority, a company founded in 2002, which he bought and re-positioned in 2005. The company provides document destruction, storage and other services to assist its customers in meeting Privacy Rule requirements. The Shred Authority is an independently minority owned and operated document Destruction Company that is AAA NAID Certified (National Association for Information Destruction) for onsite, offsite, micro-media and computer hard-drive destruction. It utilizes technologically advanced tools and cost effective and rigorous methodology to recycle waste in accordance with federal statutes and its customers’ commitment to environmental conservation. The core competency of The Shred Authority is the shredding of sensitive documents for corporate customers.
Since acquiring The Shred Authority, Ken has grown both revenues and profits while consistently improving financial and operating metrics in what is a highly competitive industry. The company's personalized service and high attention to detail are known throughout the industry with 100% of TSA's customers serving as references for the company and nearly 90% rating it service as "excellent" or "best in class. Ken’s success in the secure destruction business has also been recognized by his peers as they elected him to serve as board treasurer of National Association of Information Destruction. NAID is the shredding industry’s international organization and represents over 1,000 members across the globe.
Prior to purchasing The Shred Authority, Ken’s career placed him in a number of high-level positions in business operations, systems analysis and financial controls at Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Dean Witter Discover. Ken received his MMA from Kellogg School of Management in 1998.
